How to Create your Folders with picture and description using SharePoint.

Sometimes when you create a folder on a SharePoint library, you need more information about it, like a description or an image. This is not possible using the default “Folder” option on SP libraries. This post will help you create a custom “Folder” content type, to add images and text to your library folders.

1.     Go to: Site Settings, Site Content Types. All site content types will appear.

2.     Click on the create button to create a new content type. Once the create page is open, you can start by giving your type a name, then select the Folder Content Types, and Folder parent. Then click OK to finish creating your content type.

3.     The next thing we’ll do is create a new column for our content type. This is the column we’ll use to add the description to our folder. So it needs to be a Multiple lines of text column type.

4.     Click OK to finish creating your column. Now you need to do the same for the Icon field, but this time, add a new Hyperlink or Picture filed.

5.     Your Content Type will look like this:

6.    Now we need to specify the use of our new Content Type to the library we want. Go to your library, and click on Settings, Document Library Settings. Click on Advanced settings, and then Yes, on “Allow management of content types?”.

7.     Click OK to apply changes. Now a new section will appear on your library settings, the Content Types section.

8.     Click on “Add from existing site content types” and select your Extended Folder Content type.

9.     Click ok to apply changes. Go back to your library main view.

10.   Now you can start adding folders with icon and description clicking on New, Extended Folder.

11.   The form to add the folder will show you two more fields (Description and Icon).

This doesn't tell you anything? Where's the folder picture? Seems to me it is the same as folder picture.
